Hi my fellow countrymen, SELAMAT HARI KEBANGSAAN (belated).
When i decided to accept ASEAN scholarship last year, many people were concerned with one question: Will i stay and work in sg after my studies and eventually become a sgrean? Well, my answer was certainly NO! I told everyone in conviction that i will definitely go back and contribute to my country.
I really thought that way at that point of time. Reason? Because… i’m patriotic…? Yup, right, that’s all, nothing else. Just because that is my country, my homeland, and we’re always taught to love our country, to contribute to our country, and not to abandon our country.
Don’t worry, fellow countrymen, I still love my country. It’s never changed. But the difference is that i’m now disapointed and worried for my country. I was rather apathetic to all the happenings around me since young, until i came to sg. I’m more aware of all these when I met many fellow countrymen that somehow despair of our lovely country, because of the unfair practices, non-transparancy, bureaucracy and inefficiency of the government. And recently, the fracas in politics, in university, crimes, have further escalated the unease and dissatisfaction at our country, more specifically, the government… But then, I think, i can’t really do anything about that, can i?
Anyway, at this juncture, i’d still choose to go back m’sia after my studies (i mean university) here… if i can be employed, and able to earn a living there.

Maybe i should also briefly update on what happened in the past month.

11th August - went to esplanade for Sg Firework Festival 2006, in conjuction with their national day celebration. After that, we celebrated Jun Hui’s and Zleong’s birthday back in hostel, beside the pool. We did a video for her as birthday present (hey i’m the editor =D). Hope she likes it. Really paid lots of effort in doing it.
13th August - celebrated Shu Ying’s (my new roommate since june this year) birthday at the playground outside our hostel, playing with the sparklers, only for about half an hour, thanks to the 10 o’ clock curfew in hostel.
16th August - second celebration for Zleong’s birthday. Just a tiny tiramisu, plus the video we made for him.
30th August - our LOVELY juniors treated us (the LOVELY seniors!!!) to steamboat and BBQ dinner in Marina Bay. I did enjoy being served by them, eating and chatting with them. Sometimes i think i’ve had too little interaction with them. I still remember last year i always thought that the seniors should interact more with us, but now, i’m just behaving in the same way as them…
*hey the storage here has been overloaded!!! I can’t upload any more photos!!! T.T
31st August (00:00) - Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Just like last year, we celebrate it with the live coverage of our national day celebration. Sang Negaraku, Tanggal 31, Jalur Gemilang and Keranamu M’sia, as well as took pledge for the very first time in this year. And i guess i still love m’sia.
And recently, many of our pendrives and computers, including the hostel’s, are infected with trojan horse and brontok worm… *sigh* yesterday night i was just having a war with brontok worm, and unfortunately i had to surrender.
SINGAPORE and Malaysia are offering young visitors free admission to their tourist attractions to encourage their youths to visit their neighbours.
From now till Sept 17, Singaporeans aged 21 and under will be offered free entry to Malaysian attractions like Sunway Lagoon and Zoo Melaka as part of a new effort to promote tourism between the countries.
Malaysian youths, in turn, will get free entry to Singapore attractions including the Singapore Zoo, Sentosa island and Jurong BirdPark.
Among all, i want the hot-air balloon ride most!!! Heard from juniors that sg zoo is not bad too. May try them out next week!!!
Time flies. Today is 2nd Sept already. About 3 more months, A-levels would have finished! Wow…
