Finally… the crazy week is over!
I’m now super tired… despite the long hours of sleep yesterday…
What made me so tired? 4 presentations (1 on Tuesday, 1 on Wednesday and 2 on Thursday), 3 injections on Friday (for vaccination against Tetanus, and… I can’t remember… Typhoid? It’s for the China trip after exams), and a community service event with the hearing impaired on Saturday (i am the person-in-charge some more >.<).
Now both of my hands are still aching due to the injections on Friday. I didn’t even feel like taking shower on Fri because i couldn’t take off my shirt properly with my hands aching once i raised them up. Besides, i have been feeling some symptom of fever but thanks God i’m still ok right now. No fever. And my room is in a total mess now because i didn’t have any time to tidy it up.
Anyway, it was really a great experience yesterday. My first time working and playing with the hearing-impaired students. It was really an eye-opening experience to me. I learn how they actually communicate with others using sign language or lip-reading or just by reading people’s expression. I didn’t have much interaction with them though as i was the overall coordinator, not one of the group facilitators.
I heard that the hearing-impaired students really need help in their studies because they can’t follow the curriculum well due to their hearing loss. I would really like to mentor them but i couldn’t do much sign language except for those basic ones (A-Z, counting numbers, "hi", "my name is …", "thank you", "take care", "let’s go" etc). Also, mentoring takes a long-term commitment and consistent effort, but i will be going back to Malaysia for 3 months during the summer holiday. Thus i really feel 爱莫能助.
Well, i plan to rest all the way today, take some time to clean the room, and that’s all. Maybe i’ll only start to mug for the coming exam tomorrow… or the day after tomorrow… I just want to slack!
